Brand story

From a Shoreditch loft to the App Store charts

We started as three friends prototyping at a kitchen table on Curtain Road. A decade later we still ship every build ourselves — no outsourced art, no off-the-shelf engines we do not understand.

  1. 2014

    Founded above a coffee roastery

Three designers leased a 40m² loft on Rivington Street and released "Lantern Drift", a tilt-controlled puzzler, to 11,000 downloads in its first weekend.

  2. 2017

    First BAFTA Cymru nomination

Our co-op roguelike "Brass & Bramble" earned a nomination for Best Debut Game and a feature spot on the UK App Store front page for nine days.

  3. 2020

    Remote-first live-ops practice

We opened our live-ops arm during lockdown, keeping four partner studios patched, balanced, and event-ready while their teams worked from kitchens and box rooms.

  4. 2024

    Twelve people, one shared build

Today the studio is twelve strong — artists, engineers, and a community lead — shipping our own titles and embedding with partners three days a week from the Shoreditch HQ.

Reviews

What partners and players say

Feedback from the studios we have built with and the players who keep coming back.

"The design sprint paid for itself in a week — we killed a feature that would have cost us six months and found the loop that actually shipped."
Priya R.Founder, Manchester · March 2024
"Their live-ops team kept Tidecallers patched through a brutal launch month. Crash reports answered before our own Slack had even woken up."
Daniel K.Producer, Brighton · November 2023
"I have played Lantern Drift on three different phones over the years. It still feels handmade in a way big-studio games rarely do."
Sofia M.Player, Leeds · July 2024
"We came in with a one-line pitch and walked out with a playable greybox and an art direction we are still using two years later."
Tom A.Indie dev, Bristol · January 2023
"Working three days a week from their Shoreditch space changed how our remote team collaborates. Honest feedback, no agency fluff."
Hannah W.Art lead, Glasgow · September 2023
"Brass & Bramble is the only co-op game my flatmate and I have actually finished together. The balance is razor sharp."

FAQ

Questions, answered

Search the questions we hear most often from studios and players.

Yes. Most partnerships start with our two-week Design Sprint, which gives you a playable prototype and a costed production plan before you commit to a full build. It is the safest way to test an idea, and the fee is credited toward production if you continue with us.

We ship primarily in Unity and Godot, and we let the project decide which fits best. Our release builds cover iOS, Android, and Steam, with console ports handled through trusted partners when a title calls for it.

Absolutely. Our Live-Ops Retainer is built for exactly that — we audit your existing build, set up a content cadence, and triage crashes within 24 hours. We have inherited four live titles and kept every one of them patched without downtime.

No. Every pixel and sound effect is made in-house by the studio team in Shoreditch. We believe that owning the full craft is what keeps our games feeling handmade, and it means there is never a mystery about who built what.

We are at 45B Rivington Street in Shoreditch, a short walk from Old Street station. Partners on a production or sprint engagement are welcome for on-site workshops — just book ahead so we can have a desk and good coffee ready.

A full production typically runs four to nine months depending on scope and platform count. We share a fixed timeline at kick-off and run weekly playtests so you always know exactly where the build stands.
